At the direction of President Theodore Roosevelt, renowned sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens produced a completely new and majestic Indian Head design. First issued in 1907 and 1908 without the motto IN GOD WE TRUST, which was restored by Congress in 1908, this type was then minted 1908-1916, 1920, 1926, 1932 and 1933. Nearly 15 million were issued overall.
