Mitchell A. Battino, AAA has over thirty years of experience as a professional numismatist, certified appraiser, and numismatic consultant specializing in buying, selling, and appraising gold and silver coins of the United States and the World. In January 1980, Mr. Battino began his career with the New York numismatic and bullion trading firm, Manfra, Tordella & Brookes, where he was chiefly responsible for daily U.S. gold trading. In 1989 he joined Stack's, where his responsibilities included trading United States gold coins, appraising collections and estates, grading and cataloging U.S. and world coins, obtaining consignments, and contributing to all aspects of the firm's business. Mr. Battino has served as numismatic consultant to Christie's and Spink, in New York and London, and as senior numismatist for R.M. Smythe & Co. He is qualified as an expert witness in New York State. In 1998 Mr. Battino founded Hudson Rare Coins, Inc. where he actively buys, sells, and appraises rare coins, paper money and other numismatic items. Well known amongst collectors and dealers, Mr. Battino regularly attends major coin shows and travels extensively to purchase deals and collections. He is an author, editor, and regular contributor to several publications and pricing guides.
